   Kathleen H. Moriarty, Partner, Chapman & Cutler LLP

Kathleen Moriarty is a partner in Chapman’s Corporate and Securities Department and a member of the firm’s Investment Management Group. She has extensive experience representing investment companies with the creation, structuring, and development of new exchange-traded products (ETPs) and was actively involved in the development of SPDRs, the first US exchange-traded fund (ETF) as well as many other ETFs. Kathleen represents a wide variety of market participants in connection with ETPs as well as commodity-backed derivative securities and non-investment company exchange traded vehicles, such as the US ETFS precious metals trusts. She also advises index providers licensing their financial products to ETPs.

In addition, Kathleen represents US and foreign entities that are developing businesses involved in the virtual currency and blockchain spaces. She also consults with virtual currency businesses, especially with regard to securities law issues. In addition, she advises funds investing in blockchain companies and virtual currencies directly, as well as entities using the blockchain to underpin a variety of uses, such as clearing securities, constructing identification systems for stateless children and establishing repositories for legal data.

Kathleen is regularly quoted in the media about issues relating to ETPs, financial indexes, blockchain, bitcoin, and other virtual currency related matters. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and webinars and has published articles on these topics.

    Jan F. van Eck,  CEO and Director of Van Eck

Mr. Jan Frederick van Eck is the Chief Executive Officer, President of Van Eck Associates Corporation since January 1988, Principal since January 1988, Member of Executive Management Team since 1985, Chairman since January 1988, and Director since January 1988 and was previously an Executive Vice President since 2005. Mr. van Eck joined the firm in 1992. He is also the President and Director of Van Eck Securities Corporation and Van Eck Absolute Return Advisers Corporation. Mr. van Eck is the Chief Executive Officer and President at Market Vectors ETF Trust. He has created a variety of international, emerging markets, and commodity-related investment strategies in mutual fund, ETF, and alternative investment formats. Mr. van Eck established a fund management joint venture at Shenyin Wanguo Securities from 1994 to 1998. He held a Fellowship at The Council of Institutional Investors, focusing on shareholder rights in 1990. Mr. van Eck earned a J.D. from Stanford University in 1991 and a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, in Economics from Williams College in 1985.


 Jesse J Noel, MS, CFA

With almost 20 years in the Fund Industry, Jesse started his career as a mutual fund accountant at USBFS for the Direxion Funds. Later being hired directly by Direxion, Jesse primarily worked as a portfolio manager on leveraged long and short major domestic equity index funds. While also being a general operations officer, Jesse eventually became the Funds’ Chief Financial Officer. Jesse’s latest position was at USBFS with his primary responsibilities sorrounding publicly traded fixed income funds/REITs.

Jesse also serves as Director of Communications for the New York City Chapter of QWAFAFEW. He earned his Master’s in Finance degree from University of Wisconsin – Madison and Undergraduate degree with a double major, finance and economics, also from the University of Wisconsin. Enjoying education, Jesse earned his Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA, designation in 2002 and each year is grading CFA Level III exams in Charlottesville, VA, the CFA Institute’s headquarters. Also, he serves on the Steering Committee, designated as the Director of Communications, for the New York City Chapter of QWAFAFEW. In his spare time, Jesse follows the equity markets looking for investment opportunities and works on market timing models utilizing moving averages. 

    Mike Venuto, Co-founder and CIO Toroso Investments

Michael J. Venuto is an ETF industry veteran with over a decade of experience in the design and implementation of ETF-based investment strategies. He is Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Toroso Investments, LLC. Michael is the lead portfolio for the first actively managed ETF focused on Blockchain (BLOK) companies filed in the US. He is also, behind the launch of the Toroso ETF Industry Index, which measures and monitors the performance of publicly traded companies that derive revenue from the Exchange Traded Funds ecosystem.

Previously, he was Head of Investments at Global X Funds where he provided portfolio optimization services to institutional clients. Before that, he was Senior Vice President at Horizon Kinetics where his responsibilities included new business development, investment strategy, Fintech private equity and strategic initiatives. In 2014, Michael was chosen as one the ETF.COM All Stars for his research and is often quoted as an ETF expert in publications such as Reuters and Barron’s.

Toroso oversees over 700 million in investments and has actively invested in publicly traded Blockchain linked securities since 2016.

    Warrick FitzGerald, CEO, Binary Focus Inc.

Warrick has over 20 years’ enterprise application development, and over 10 years’ experience in meeting enterprise information security teams’ assessment requirements. Warrick, has led Research and Development, and managed end to end technical infrastructure.

A founding member of a growing NYC based organization called Crypto Minds Global, the organization strives to support mass adoption of blockchain technologies and crypto currency.

EOS is currently a top 5 blockchain technology and Warrick heads the educational effort for EOS New York (https://eos.io/) as well manages and open source documentation project (https://www.eosdocs.io/).

Warrick is an experienced software developer and understand many of the technical fundamentals behind the various blockchain technologies.


    Christopher Meredith, CFA, Director of Research, O’Shaughnessy Asset Management, LLC

Chris Meredith is the Director of Research & Portfolio Management and a Senior Portfolio Manager at O’Shaughnessy Asset Management (OSAM). Chris is responsible for managing the investment activities of the firm, reporting directly into the CEO/CIO. This includes managing the portfolio management team, investment strategy research, and overseeing the firm’s trading efforts. Portfolio management responsibilities include daily model generation, strategy optimization, reviewing account rebalances and trade analysis. For research, Chris leads a team conducting research on new and existing strategies and evaluating the efficacy of new factors.

Chris is also a Visiting Lecturer of Finance at the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University, where he co-teaches Applied Portfolio Management and co-manages the student-run Cayuga Fund. Prior to joining the firm, Chris was a Senior Research Analyst on the Systematic Equity team at BSAM. He was a Director at Oracle Corporation and spent eight years as a technology professional before attending the Johnson School at Cornell University. Chris holds a B.A. in English from Colgate University, an M.B.A. from Cornell University and an M.A. of Financial Mathematics from Columbia University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He lives in Chappaqua, New York with his wife and three children.
