QWAFAFEW-Edinburgh Mar 22: Cryptocurrencies and blockchain & the dot com boom and bust

Cryptocurrencies and blockchain & the dot com boom and bust
Presented by: Simon Montford, Founder (WEB3//IOT, co-founder icollector.com)

At the height of the dot-com boom Lehman Brothers attempted to list iCollector Plc on the LSE. The company, co-founded by Simon, was the world’s first online auction platform, but due to adverse market conditions, the IPO had to be abandoned. Simon is, therefore, well positioned to explain why he believes there are striking similarities between today’s crypto boom and the dot-com boom – and subsequent bust.

Time: drinks served 6pm with the presentation beginning at 6.30pm Sharpe

Cost: Free (drinks and canapés sponsored by Northfield, S&P Global Intelligence and Thomson Reuters – thanks to all 3 for their generosity in supporting the chapter)

Thanks also to Chapter Chair Matt Monach CFA, Quantitative Analyst, Aberdeen Standard Investments
